Safe Seniors Walks
Join us for the Safe Seniors Walk, a weekly guided walk or bike/e-bike ride with an Enforcement Officer and Park Patrol. Starting Thursday, June 13th, we meet every Thursday from June to September at 10 am. Each meeting is held at a different location throughout our trail systems, each with its own difficulty level.
But that’s not all! On the last Thursday of every month, we hold a Safe Seniors “Mug Up”. These special walks are a little longer than an hour, and halfway through the walk, we stop for a boil-up, cup of tea/coffee, and snacks. It’s a wonderful opportunity to chat and connect with fellow walkers before we return.
Participants are welcome to bring family members.
Our Next Walk – Thursday, November 14th
Meeting place: Mount Pearl Square Rear Lot | 760 Topsail Road
Trail: Branscombe Pond
Time: 2 pm
Level: 1 (Easy: Mixed surface, sidewalk, gravel, paved)
Duration: Approx. 1.5 hrs
Please Note: Please note the time change to accommodate seniors’ morning programs, we have ended our regularly scheduled weekly walk for the season. While this marks the end of our weekly schedule, we’re excited to announce that enforcement will continue holding Safe Seniors walks periodically throughout the fall. Stay tuned for future dates and details!
Walk Levels
To ensure everyone can participate safely, we have defined three levels of difficulty:
- 1- Very easy: Straight, flat, hard-packed or paved surface.
- 2- Easy to Medium: Small rises/mostly flat, may include boardwalks, hard-packed or paved surfaces.
- 3 – Moderate: Small rises or dips, a mixture of surfaces, may take slightly longer.
The location and meeting area will be set by the Wednesday of the week before each walk.
Safe Seniors Mug-Ups
Our Safe Seniors Mug-ups take place on the last day of every month. Come for the walk, stay for the company and the good cheer!
