Road Safety
No Need for Speed
There’s no need for speed in the City of Mount Pearl. We have many residential neighbourhoods, over 50 km of walking trails, over 50 playgrounds and play courts, and eight schools. Our goal is to keep our neighbourhoods safe and enjoyable for everyone – pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
We do this through:
- School safety patrols in the mornings and in the evenings on weekdays.
- Regular radar patrol in areas known for higher driving speeds.
- Mobile digital traffic signs displayed throughout the community to bring awareness to drivers’ speeds. These are often used in school zones.
- Targeted traffic operations in partnership with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
What’s the Speed in your Neighbourhood?
As our city continues to grow, we remain focused on prioritizing safety initiatives and traffic calming measures throughout Mount Pearl. To help us do this, we have collected speed data for various streets. We will continuously update the map below to provide more information to you as it becomes available.
Please click on the orange bubble in the map below to see what the average driving speed is in your neighbourhood.
