RELEASE: BEST IN MOUNT PEARL AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

July 19, 2024 (Mount Pearl, NL) – Last night, the City of Mount Pearl held the Best in Mount Pearl
Awards Ceremony at the Reid Community Centre, recognizing outstanding citizens and organizations
who, through their achievements and extraordinary efforts, have made exemplary contributions to the
community.

Mayor Dave Aker expressed great pride in our community members’ achievements, stating, “Our
residents and community groups have continuously broken barriers and achieved remarkable success.
This event is dedicated to celebrating their accomplishments and showing our appreciation.”

This year, the city has given four residents and three community groups the following awards:

Impact in Music, Arts, and Culture – Candace Udle
Community Group of the Year – 1st Mount Pearl Lions Scouting Group, Community Care & Men’s Slow Pitch Softball League
Environmental Award – Ryan Easton, Ryan’s Recycling
Citizen of the Year – Calvin Smith
Lifetime Achievement Award – Mike Mooney
