Commemorative Programs
The City of Mount Pearl offers a commemorative bench and tree program to memorialize significant others and to commemorate significant events and occasions.
How the program works
Choose an option below and submit your request for approval. If approved, the city will order, plant / install the commemorative item on your behalf. The city will also engrave and install the plaque. Where possible, the city will accommodate your choice of location, however, changes may be made at the city’s discretion. The engraved plaque must follow a specific template, as described in the commemorative program form, found below.
Prices for commemorative items are HST exempt and subject to change.
1. Metal Bench – City Parks
The bench is available in blue or black. The cost is $3,052, which includes a 3 in x 10 in bronze engraved plaque. This style bench is placed in city parks.
2. Wooden Bench – City Trails
The cost is $2,090, which includes a 3 in x 10 in cast bronze rectangular engraved plaque with raised lettering. This style bench is used along trailways.
3. Maple Tree
The cost is $930, which includes a 3 in x 10 in cast bronze engraved plaque. The tree planted will be approximately 1.5m/5 ft.
4. Austrian Pine Tree
The cost is $985, which includes a 3 in x 10 in cast bronze engraved plaque. The tree planted will be approximately 1.5m/5 ft.
5. Plaque Only Option
The cost is $435. The plaque is a 3 in x 10 in cast bronze rectangular plaque with raised lettering. The plaque will be placed on existing city infrastructure, such as benches, picnic tables, or bridges.
Additional Information
Requests must be submitted to the Infrastructure and Public Works department for approval. Persons interested in this program are required to complete a Commemorative Program Application Form, available at City Hall Front Counter, 3 Centennial Street, or the H. Neil Windsor Municipal Building, 59 Clyde Avenue.
Tree planting or bench installation dates may not be specified due to weather, grower supply, park construction schedule and social event situations.
The dedication is the responsibility of the applicant.
