Mount Pearl Joins National Effort to Combat Radon Exposure

UPDATE (10/16/24): We are pleased to share that all of our radon testing kits have been claimed. Thank you for your overwhelming interest and enthusiasm in our radon awareness initiative!

The City of Mount Pearl has partnered with the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (CARST) to encourage residents to participate in the Radon Test Kit Challenge this winter.

The challenge aims to raise awareness about radon gas, the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in Canada, which often goes undetected in homes.

Free test kits, which are no larger than the average smart speaker, are available to the first 400 residents who sign up using this link. Once registered, you will receive an invitation to an online information session on Monday, November 4, 2024, where representatives from CARST will discuss the health effects of radon, and Health Canada’s recommendations.
