The city regularly posts any utility disruptions, construction notices, or other important notices on this page to ensure residents are informed. This includes but is not limited to:
- Traffic disruptions (detours, road construction, etc.)
- Utility impacts (water shutoffs, power shutoffs, water main flushing, etc.)
- Trails and open space disruptions (trail construction, playground notices, etc.)
Road Detour & Partial Closure – Glencoe Drive
Timeline: Tuesday, November 12th to Thursday, November 14th, 2024 (Subject to Change)
Please be advised of an upcoming road closure on Glencoe Drive from November 12th until the 14th to complete tie-in work in the area of 60-62 Glencoe Drive, which will necessitate a temporary road closure.
During the closure period from November 12–14, 2024, Drivers are advised to use Home Street as the primary detour route around the construction area. Detour and wayfinding signs will be clearly posted to guide traffic around the affected area.
While businesses and customers will still have access to the affected buildings, we recommend planning alternate routes to avoid potential delays.

Stapleton Road Swimming Pool Demolition
Timeline: Starting October 11th, 2024 (Subject to Change)
Please be advised that work to remediate and demolish the Old Pool at 3 Stapleton Road has commenced. Access from the main parking lot to the pathway on Davis Place will remain open and will only be closed when necessary for demolition and removal.
The projected timeline for the remediation and demolition is as follows:
Remediation of Hazardous Materials – Ongoing to November 7th 2024
Demolition, Foundation & Soil Excavation – November 8th to 22nd 2024
Backfilling and Site Demobilization – November 22th to 24th 2024

Road Resurfacing, Asphalt and Concrete Repair
Timeline: Ongoing until the end of October, 2024
Please be advised that starting Thursday, October 3, 2024, the City will be conducting concrete and asphalt repair work.
Work will be taking place in the following areas of Mount Pearl which are listed by priority;
- Richard Noland Drive (Between Merchant Drive and Southlands)
- Intersection of Topsail Road and Mount Carson
- Intersection of Olympic Drive & Ruth
- Intersection of Nelder and Old Placentia Road
- Intersection of Bruce Street and Glencoe Drive
- Commonwealth Avenue, southbound near the T’Railway
- Intersection of Ruth Avenue and Third Street
- 9 Ruth Avenue
- Park Avenue (From Dunn’s Lane to Dunn’s Bridge)
- Park Avenue (Between Dunn’s Bridge to Avery Place)
During this time, commuters should expect:
- Traffic delays in the affected area
- Detours around the construction zone
- The presence of road workers and construction equipment
We kindly ask all to:
- Plan your travel accordingly and allow extra time for your journey
- Follow all posted detour signs and instructions from traffic control personnel
- Be mindful and cautious around road workers to ensure their safety

New Community Centre Construction – Team Gushue Complex
Timeline: July 2024 to November 2025. (subject to change)
Please be advised of increased traffic and the use of heavy equipment at Team Gushue Complex as work commences on the construction of a new community centre at the site of the former Smallwood Arena.
While we understand that construction may cause temporary inconvenience, we are committed to minimizing disruption:
Please be mindful of construction zones and adhere to all posted signs and barriers.
Some areas of the sports complex may be temporarily inaccessible. The contractor will provide clear signage and alternative routes to ensure access to the baseball and softball fields, soccer pitches, and the skate park.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete this project as swiftly as possible. We are confident that the new community centre will be a cornerstone for our city, bringing long-term benefits that far outweigh the temporary inconveniences.

Carroll Drive Construction
Timeline: Starting April 22, 2024 through August 2024 (subject to change)
Please be advised that construction work in the Carroll Drive area will resume for the season on or after Monday, April 22nd.
This street project will include the replacement of underground services, new pavement and concrete, curb and gutter, and
water and sewer. To accommodate the upgrading work, residents can expect some temporary inconveniences such as temporary loss of water service, impacts to traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.

Olympic Drive Construction

This street project will include sidewalk upgrades, new pavement and concrete, and curb & gutter. To accommodate the upgrading work, residents can expect some temporary inconveniences such as temporary loss of water service, impacts to traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.

Mount Carson Avenue and Kenmount Road Intersection – Construction
Timeline: Starting October 18, 2023, and ongoing (subject to change)
Please be advised Starting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, there will be a construction project at the intersection of Mount Carson and Kenmount Road. While there should be minimal traffic flow delays, please be wary of construction workers, impacts to traffic, such as stop-and-go traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.
