Construction Notices

The city regularly posts any utility disruptions, construction notices, or other important notices on this page to ensure residents are informed. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Traffic disruptions (detours, road construction, etc.)
  • Utility impacts (water shutoffs, power shutoffs, water main flushing, etc.)
  • Trails and open space disruptions (trail construction, playground notices, etc.)

Watermain Shut Off – Hanrahan Place

Timeline: Thursday, June 27th from 8 am to 5 pm (subject to change)

Please be advised of a water main shut-off scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 27th from 8 am to 5 pm to install some of the water main valves that were approved for replacement. During this time, the street may be closed to traffic, and water service will be impacted at the properties noted below:

•   All of Hanrahan Place
•   Civic Numbers 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 & 11 Carroll Drive

When water service is restored, you may notice discoloured water or air in the line water system. If this is observed, it can be alleviated by opening a cold-water tap and letting the water run in a fixture that does not have an aerator, such as a laundry tub or bathtub.

Powers Pond Trail Upgrades

Timeline: To Be Determined – More Information to Come (subject to change)

Please be advised that the Grand Concourse Authorities planned upgrades to the Powers Pond Trail will start in the next few weeks.

What to Expect:

  • Potential trail closures
  • Heavy equipment operating in the area

Branscombe Pond Trail Upgrades

Timeline: Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 and ongoing (subject to change)

Please be advised that due to trail upgrades, the Branscombe Pond trail will be closed between the hours of 7 am & 5 pm Monday – Friday. The work zone/trail will be closed to pedestrian traffic during the above-stated times with the intent to have the trail open again to use at the end of every day.

Carroll Drive Construction

Timeline: Starting April 22, 2024 through August 2024 (subject to change)

Please be advised that construction work in the Carroll Drive area will resume for the season on or after Monday, April 22nd.

This street project will include the replacement of underground services, new pavement and concrete, curb and gutter, and
water and sewer. To accommodate the upgrading work, residents can expect some temporary inconveniences such as temporary loss of water service, impacts to traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.

Traffic Detour Notice – Farrell Drive from Holden Street to Nash Crescent 

Timeline: April 16th – July 31, 2024 (subject to change)

Please be advised that Farrell Drive will be closed from Holden Street to Nash Crescent from April 16th – July 31st to complete the replacement of underground services, new pavement and concrete, curb and gutter, and water and sewer.

A detour will be in place during this timeframe. Please note that the weather may impact the timeframe of this work.

Olympic Drive Construction

Timeline: Starting May 1st, 2024 (subject to change)

Please be advised that construction work in the Olympic Drive area will resume for the season on or after Wednesday, May 1st.

This street project will include sidewalk upgrades, new pavement and concrete, and curb & gutter. To accommodate the upgrading work, residents can expect some temporary inconveniences such as temporary loss of water service, impacts to traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.

Mount Carson Avenue and Kenmount Road Intersection – Construction 

Timeline: Starting October 18, 2023, and ongoing (subject to change)

Please be advised Starting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, there will be a construction project at the intersection of Mount Carson and Kenmount Road. While there should be minimal traffic flow delays, please be wary of construction workers, impacts to traffic, such as stop-and-go traffic, and restrictions to driveway access.
